Angelina Avalon “creates” Frankenstein.
A Bulgarian woman, working in Broadway sets the latest trends in the make-up art in Broadway. Angelina Avalon was the make-up artist for the scenes in hit musicals and spectacles, staged at the famous New York street theatre. For more than ten years, Angelina’s make-up skills have done their magic on the faces of the main characters from Dance with Vampires, Dracula, Frozen, The Little Mermaid and many more.
“The make-up for the stage is just the first step in the business,” says Avalon, adding that she is the manager of the whole team of designers, in an interview for BBC.
She started her career in Florence, where she studied fashion design and made her first projects. At that time, the young girl realized that she was not satisfied with designing clothes only.
“I adore the whole process of creating a character, from the dressing up to the make-up and the hairstyle. It is very exciting and challenging to transform one’s image and style,” says Angelina about her art.
Later, Angelina continued her education in Yale University, where she obtained a master degree in Stage Costume Design. From that moment on, she’s been fully devoted to the theater genre.
“I love to describe a story by means of color and form. It is as fine art, but on stage that has to fit to the script, the music, the choreography, the staging and the actors’ play,” says the talented Bulgarian make-up artist, confident in herself.
