Response to the questions:
1) I have been interested in becoming a doctor since I was in grade school. The path to becoming a Doctor is very arduous, long and require dedication without which one will not succeed. The Medical school is for 4 years after graduation from the college and the training that is required to be a specialist takes 7-8 years. I basically enjoy taking care of the patients and making them feel better gives me great satisfaction and the experience is very rewarding.
2) Phoenix is a great place to live in, mainly with its weather during most of the year except for a couple of months in the summer when it is hot. With influx of people into the city most businesses are doing very well. The city now gives opportunity for various activities and cultural experiences that it is becoming like any of the big cities in the east coast.
3) My medical practice is mainly geared towards heart. I have all the facilities for complete cardiac testing which includes Stress Test, Ultrasound to determine any structural abnormalities with the heart. I am also equipped with monitoring device for the heart for detecting any irregularities in heart functioning. I also see patients requiring a general check-up.
4) People living in Arizona should be more careful in summer months by keeping up with hydration as this might precipitate a heart attack. The water in Arizona is very hard with lot more minerals and this tend to increase the incidence of kidney stones. Bottled water or purified water will be a better alternative. The Stress of living in a big city is always there but we need to minimize the stress level by lessening commute time and enjoying the work we are doing and more so by allowing some time for regular Physical activities.
5) My free time is always taken up by reading, playing on the computer and more so Golf during the weekends which is very relaxing. All weekends and other free times are always spent with my wife Minna. My advice for people is to have a hobby which will keep you engaged when you are not involved with work. Physical exercise, yoga or such other form of practice is invigorating to both mind and the body.
Dr. N. S. Prakash
