A Reminder
I would like to talk about some of the
non-sexy side of health. More specifically the homeopathic side.
Homeopathic medicine is where you do preventive
medicine, before you have the big trouble. We all know that we must keep
oil in the engine of the car, or it will stop working. This is the same
concept. Since most of us will not stop or change our bad habits, we need
to find alternatives to good health.
We all know that organic foods, vitamins,
and fruits and vegetables are good for you. 9 servings for males and 7
for females are the requirements for fruit and vegetables per day? This
is every color, (Green, Red, Orange, Purple, Yellow, etc.) not the same
4 or 5 vegetables or fruits that we like. We don't consume fruits and
vegetables like we should, so we rely on supplements. So let's talk about
the process of making supplements.
The Pill
The ideal is that we can take the important
part of the foods we need and put it in a tablet, sounds great. We all
know that cooking destroys many of the vital nutrients because of the
heat. Especially when heating foods fast. Well did you know that in order
to create a pill the nutrients are mixed with filler that holds the pill
together? This is the same filler in plaster. And this must be compressed
together under high force. This causes the ingredients to be heated to
several hundred degrees in an instant. Try and put a pill in a glass with
vinegar and you will have an ideal of how it dissolves in your system.
The Capsule
The capsule is a much better choice, only
if they are filled with the food and not a powdery abstract. But you must
ask what is lost when the food is dried out. Most plant herbs are ok,
but not watery food items. The company must dehydrate the food quickly.
Wouldn't this affect the nutrients?
Juice
Juices are good, but keep in mind that you
want juices that are NOT concentrate or reconstituted. If you have a good
blender you can make your own juice puree with what you want. Remember
what your mom told you about where the nutrients are? That right near
or in the skin. Most people don't like this part so most juice manufactures
throw this part out before making the juice. So you mostly get the sugary
part. (Gee, is that why it tastes so good?)
Reconstituted
This is a process of removing the liquid
from the food source, and turning it into a powder. Then adding water
later to make the final product.
Is that good? Well let me ask you this, would you drink powered Rakia,
or Wine?
Concentrate
This is where they use some method to remove
water so that the product is less expensive to ship.
Extract
This is where they soak the food in some
substance to draw out the different elements of the food and then they
only use the elements that they want. Early forms of extracting agents
were Water, and Alcohol. But what kinds of acids do they use now to speed
the process and cut costs? This also allows manufactures to use less good
product and use more of the cheaper fillers. We all have learned that
many nutrients need some other nutrient to help the body absorb them.
Protein is great, but only with amino acids. Hence, that is why we find
protein in meats and dairy.
8 Hours
After about 8 hours the body is now disposing
of the unused product. This is why they often tell you to take medicines
three times a day.
Time
Another area that people have trouble is
to take products over the recommended time period. (Case in point: Tuberculosis
was an illness that they put people in to medical isolation, they also
insured that the people took all of the medicine as directed. Hence tuberculosis
was pretty much eliminated.) Now days they treat it as an out patient
case, and rely on people taking all of the medicines as directed. Well
we all know that it is natural to stop taking the medicine when we feel
better. Now we have medicine resistant tuberculosis. It takes time for
the medicine to build up in the body.
This is especially true for homeopathic
supplements. Most people will feel the difference after about two to three
months. While some will notice after a week or less, this is very rare.
Taste
Since most supplements in liquid form would
taste real bad; manufactures add some type of artificial sweeteners. Adding
naturally sweet juices is a better choice as this would also help you
receive the 7 to 9 daily servings.
So let's review:
1. The closer to the natural product that
you can get, the better it is for you.
2. The body needs to be fed most supplements
three times a day.
3. If it doesn't taste good we won't take
it.
4. Two to three months is the average time
to see the health benefits.
Now that we are older, we started being
more concerned about our health. May be it is the little pains that we
have. Or the fact that we are more aware of older people. After about
two months of research, we have decided on our first real step. We have
decided on the Mangosteen fruit.
Here are the some reasons why:
1. There are real scientific studies on
the fruit.
2. The anti-oxidant properties.
3. The large referral base.
We also looked at the different manufactures
of Mangosteen fruit juice. (Since the U.S. does not allow the fruit to
be imported in to America except as a juice or pill form.) Xango is the
only company that supplies the fruit closest form to include the rind.
Instead of artificial sweeteners, Xango has added other sweet fruits to
the juice. They are also the only company that does not extract or dehydrate
the fruit at this time.
Since taking the Mangosteen juice we have
notice much improvement in our daily lives.
